Following the English system students spend Years 7, 8 and 9, when they are aged 11 to 14, in Key Stage 3. During these years all students follow a compulsory and broad based curriculum. This prepares them for their IGCSE courses which start at the beginning of Year 10 when they enter Key Stage 4.
In Key Stage 3 all students study the following subjects: Art, Drama, English, Geography, History, ICT, Mandarin, Mathematics, Music (Thai and Western), Physical Education, PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), Science and Thai. Students receive more lessons per week in the Core Subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and Thai and fewer lessons per week in the other subjects listed. All subjects are taught by specialist teachers.
Students are set in Mathematics, English and Thai but otherwise are taught in parallel classes.
Key Stage 3 subjects follow the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), more details of which can be found on a separate page. The IMYC meets the requirements of the English National Curriculum.
All Key Stage 3 students take a school examination in every subject at the end of every year.
